Chen Cheng is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Social Science. Before joining HKUST, she worked as a postdoc at Boston University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, M.A. in Developmental Psychology from East China Normal University, and B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Finance from Zhejiang University. Her research focuses on the foundation of human knowledge through the examination of object representations in early development. Specifically, she's interested in answering three primary questions: 1) how do infants form representations of object in their mind? 2) How do various cognitive processes (e.g., working memory and attention) shape such representations through development? 3)How do object representations support high-level cognition such as learning and reasoning?
