The postgraduate programs in the Division of Social Science are interdisciplinary in nature. The Division offers a range of specializations which includes sociology, political science, economics, demography, geography and psychology. A significant focus of interest is on studies relating to China, Hong Kong and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Students in the Research Postgraduate Programs normally receive full funding.
- Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Program in Social Science
This is a master’s degree program satisfied by coursework and completion of a thesis. The primary aim of this MPhil program is to provide training for students who intend to pursue professional careers as teachers and researchers. It can be an end in itself or serve as preparation for the research degree of PhD.
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program in Social Science
The PhD degree program in the Division of Social Science is interdisciplinary in nature. Its aims to provide training for students who intend to pursue professional careers.
