Jin Wang is an Associate Professor of Social Science and Faculty Associate at the Institute for Emerging Market Studies, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She holds a BA and MA in Economics from Tsinghua University and a PhD from the London School of Economics. Her research in development, public, and urban economics explores topics such as place-based policies, government hierarchy and incentives, labor mobility barriers, and environmental regulation enforcement.

Her work is published in the Journal of the European Economic Association, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Urban Economics, and Journal of Comparative Economics, and cited  by major international organizations including UN, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, OECD, European Union, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, among others.
